Shaping Bathroom Takeaway into a more considered lifestyle brand, using thoughtful storytelling, refined design and a cohesive creative direction to bring the brand to life across every touchpoint.

Bathroom Takeaway already had an established and recognisable identity, but the ambition was to evolve the brand beyond a purely bathroom-focused retailer and towards a more considered lifestyle brand. The focus was on creating a brand that feels warm, approachable and relevant to everyday life at home, connecting with customers through the moments and experiences that happen around the bathroom.

Rather than completely reinventing the existing identity, the brand was refined to feel more cohesive, intentional and editorial. The visual language was developed through a more considered colour palette, typography and tone of voice, creating a softer and more elevated expression of the brand while retaining the familiarity that existing customers recognise.

This approach allows Bathroom Takeaway to move beyond simply communicating products and prices, creating a stronger emotional connection with customers. Through thoughtful storytelling and a consistent visual identity, the brand aims to become part of the wider lifestyle surrounding the bathroom — from everyday routines and small moments of comfort to the spaces people create in their homes.

My Role

I led the creative direction behind the evolution of the Bathroom Takeaway brand, refining the existing identity to better reflect the ambition of becoming a more considered lifestyle brand. I developed changes to the colour palette, typography and tone of voice, carefully considering how each decision would strengthen the brand and support its wider business objectives. I presented the new creative direction to the Business Manager, explaining the reasoning behind the changes and demonstrating how a stronger, more refined brand could benefit the wider business rather than simply improving its visual presence.

A major part of my role is ensuring this direction is consistently applied across every part of the business. I regularly proof and refine creative produced by others, from social media posts and email campaigns to showroom business cards, product price tags and printed materials. This involves maintaining a consistent visual identity while making sure the work remains clear, considered and aligned with the brand.

Alongside the brand development, I also led the redesign of the Bathroom Takeaway website, creating a completely new visual direction that feels more editorial, considered and purposeful. Working from the foundations of the refined brand identity, I redesigned the experience to create a stronger digital presence and bring the new creative direction to life across one of the brand's most important customer touchpoints.

From shaping the brand's visual identity and presenting its creative direction to senior stakeholders, through to overseeing its day-to-day application and leading a major website redesign, my role combines creative direction, brand development and hands-on design. It is an ongoing project focused on building a more distinctive and cohesive lifestyle brand across the business.
