Bathroom takeaway trade
Social content made for the people who fit the bathrooms.
Real jobs, real products and a more hands-on approach to the feed.
All about Trades socials.
My Role
I created and manage the Bathroom Takeaway Trade social media accounts from the ground up, taking full ownership of the creative direction, content creation and day-to-day management. As the person responsible for all Trade social content, I developed a clear content system that gives the brand a consistent identity while allowing us to communicate with tradespeople in different ways. I created three months of content in advance, planned and organised the content using a tracking spreadsheet, and scheduled everything through Sprout Social. This has allowed me to manage the accounts independently while maintaining a consistent flow of content across the brand.
A key part of the social strategy is the use of deliberately imperfect photography. Rather than using polished photography or professionally staged imagery, Trade content is designed to feel as though it has been captured by a tradesperson on the job. I created the visual direction around this idea, using a lens designed to replicate the look of a disposable camera. The resulting photography is lower quality, flash-heavy and sometimes imperfect by design, creating a visual style that feels genuine and immediately recognisable. This also connects directly to the brand's disposable camera competition, where real tradespeople are given cameras to document their own work and submit their photographs.
Content
I developed four distinct types of social content to give the account variety while keeping everything within the established Trade identity. The first is photography-led content using the disposable camera aesthetic, allowing real jobs, people and moments from the trade to form the foundation of the feed. The second combines these photographs with short text overlays, using witty and relatable observations about what is happening in the image. This gives the brand a more conversational personality and creates content that feels like something a tradesperson might actually send to a mate.
The third format is carousel content, which is used to communicate more detailed information about Bathroom Takeaway Trade. These posts explain the company's trade offering, account benefits, discount levels, delivery services and other useful information in a way that is easy to understand and designed to encourage traders to find out more. The fourth uses an established branded template with an attention-grabbing headline, followed by more commercially focused information. These posts are designed to communicate specific products, services or offers while still feeling consistent with the less polished, more direct Trade identity.
Together, these formats create a balance between brand, culture, education and commercial content. The aim is to avoid making the account feel like a traditional business feed while still communicating the information a trader needs to know. Every post has a purpose, whether that is building recognition, creating engagement, explaining a benefit or encouraging a trader to take the next step.
Planning & Presentation
Alongside creating the content, I manage the planning and organisation behind the account. I use a spreadsheet to track the content and ensure there is a balanced mix of post types, while Sprout Social allows me to schedule the content in advance and maintain a consistent posting schedule. I created three months of content before launch, giving the brand a structured foundation while allowing room to adapt and develop the content as the account grows.
I have also presented the social strategy and creative work to a range of senior stakeholders, including the showroom managers, Business Manager, National Showroom Manager, owner and Marketing Manager. These presentations allowed me to explain the reasoning behind the creative direction, demonstrate how the different content formats work together and ensure the wider business understood how the new Trade social presence would communicate with its audience.
Overall, I have taken ownership of the Trade social accounts from their creation through to ongoing management. The project combines social strategy, creative direction, photography, graphic design, content creation, copywriting, scheduling and stakeholder presentation, giving me responsibility for both the creative output and the wider thinking behind the brand's social presence.
